Wonderland, 2011

She awakes once again to an unbearable sound

A longing to be swallowed into the ground.

All she feels is a need to be found

But satisfies this by looking around.

She packs her things to leave once more

But falters as she reaches the door;

There’s some rubbish that seems to have just appeared

It looks like a cup but it shouldn’t be here!

She goes over and picks it up to see

And a message appears to her, ‘drink me’

She throws it back over to the bed

That’s odd it appeared – and what it said.

..

She creeps close but there’s nothing inside

So holds it up to view close to her eyes

She turns it over, as if to say, ‘see’,

She pretends to sip, and magically

It fills up with water, right to the brim;

She’s starting to worry about the state that it’s in

But decides its true, it means no harm

It must be magic, or have a reason!

With a breath of air she brings to her lips

The magical cup of paper bits

Trying to still, she takes a sniff

Smells like lemongrass, mown fields and bliss

The cup, so close already to her lips

Says, ‘they wont notice if you take a sip’

She cant stop, it tastes divine

But then there appears another line;

‘Follow the music’ it whispers and yet

The once dry cup is now soaked wet.

.

It gives her one small moment to ponder

But suddenly spinning she sails yonder-

Swimming within a sort of sea

She lands atop a peaceful lily

.

Looking down she’s still strangely dry

In a beautiful place- she doesn’t know why

And how she got here- she never flew

Yet the water is beginning a tinkling tune.

Slipping down, curling up like a wafer

She finds herself swimming on musical paper

Goodness gracious, she’s got so tiny!

‘My clothes have gone too, what if they find me?’

But listen, the air seems to chant

‘Its the pureness within, that’s what we want’

So she lies still and embraces the tune

As her chest rises like a helium balloon.

She rolls and turns around and sees

That the music does in fact lead

To a magical garden far up ahead

With a friendly rabbit turning its head,

‘He seems to be holding a rose for me

But what else is it that I can see?’

She follows the path to where it leads

A skip and a hop, she does as she pleases;

The music carries her soul away

To a time before, a magical day.

When the song’s over she reaches the rabbit who

Gives her the rose and some magical shoes.

He gestures right and shows her some tea

Which in china cups beckons to thee.

She smiles at the rabbit and then she sees

‘There is something around his neck, for me!’

She reaches a hand to see what it is

But in a flash of pink light, a bang and a fizz

She finds herself standing surrounded by cards

To play with, she guesses, but they’re bigger than her arms!

Only there in the piles she sees a twee script

A paw print, a sparkle, it seems to fit

The magical happenings surrounding her mind

There must be something else here to find!

Unfolding the paper, she looks down and reads

An invite; some coffee, a cake and some tea

Is here to end the cause of your strife

And from here you begin the rest of your life!

I’m now off to take myself out for a nice coffee (and possibly some yummy food) for this year’s tea party.
I think next year, I might host an actual tea party for the event?

    1. Thanks very much! I’m glad you liked my story! It’s the first thing like that I’ve written in a loooong time, so that’s a nice bit of enthusiasm!

Just putting on my magical shoes to visit your party! See you there!

  1. This is amazing and I must share it with friends.
I am so glad you commented that you did not add music because I didn’t hear it either. My old computer does not work well with music on blogs. Someday I will be able to upgrade. If only I had saleable talent like yours… I digress.
I look forward to reading more of your work and seeing your creations.

If you have time to visit, my party is… well it won’t let me post the link but you are invited to visit me.

    1. Wow!!! Thank you so much! It makes me so happy that you enjoyed this post so much!!
As for your old computer, I remember having one like that, wired up to a dial-up modem that would only work if the house phone was off the hook (and sneaking extra minutes on it when my mum didnt notice..) ahhh..
Unfortunately, i’ve never sold any of my work. I’m thinking of opening an etsy account… I do make a LOT of things with no place to keep them. It would also inspire me to create more!
I’d love to visit your blog-im popping over to take a look now.
Thank you again for your lovely comment 🙂 x
